Life With Mother
Book by Clarence Day
Made into three acts by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse
Comedy PG
This play revolves around a real life family with a dis-organized, but well meaning Mother and an overbearing, and highly organized Father. They have three boys. Mother’s attempt to provide an engagement ring for one of the boys, who wants it for his fiancée, sets this play in motion! Mother, never having had an engagement ring of her own, is determined to get one. Mrs. Bessie Fuller Logan comes to visit the Days. She was formerly engaged to Father and when the engagement was broken, Father demanded the return of the ring. The former Bessie Fuller peremptorily refused to give it back. When Mother learns this she insists that Father go into action and recover that ring for his son to have. This puts Father in a spot! The plot is further enriched by the introduction of cousin Cora’s husband, Clyde Miller, a delightful know-it-all who does not mix well with Father! And this puts Mother in a spot! Warm hearted comedy at its best! Set in the late 1880’s. Beautiful costumes and sets!

The Odd Couple, (Female Version)
By Neil Simon
Comedy Rated PG-13
A remake of Neil Simon's long-running Broadway comedy, The Odd Couple centers around two divorced woman who decide to live together to save on expenses and decrease the loneliness, but can't stand each other's habits. Simon himself updated the script in the mid '80s to an all female version starring Rita Moreno and Sally Struthers in the Madison/Unger roles. Neil Simon's famous update of his contemporary classic starts with a group of women friends playing their regular game of Trivial Pursuit. This week, the coterie is meeting at the apartment of Olive Madison, a divorcee who freely admits to being a slob: "I leave a mess when I read a book." Arriving later, is Florence Unger, a neat freak who would try the patience of a saint, and who has unfortunately just become separated from her husband. As life would have it, the slob and the fuss-budget decide to room together -- with hilarious results! Within only a few days, Florence's obsessive habits start taking their toll on Olive and their friends. The only remedy Olive can think of (a pair of brothers from Barcelona) disastrously backfires, and the two women are forced to agree on one thing -- even the best of friends sometimes make the worst of roommates.
Auditions August 20 and 21 at 7PM.
Earlene Rainey will play the role of Florence Unger.
